Helping Customers Reach Their Potential

CLEARWATER, FLORIDA—March 22, 2011 – During the last Presidential Campaign a new and upgraded “Smart Grid” played an instrumental role in the general debate.

General Electric (GE) was one company who embraced the Smart Grid technology many years before, and began investing to upgrade the products and services they offered to their customers. One of its projects was redesigning a “Smart Meter” to augment the Smart Grid function more effectively, use fewer materials, and cost less.

The new meter cover would be made out of a cost effective material (Polycarbonate), feature two colors (the traditional clear allowing easy reading of the meters, and an opaque color to allow for meter cooling) and would be assembled in more efficient way.

American Tool & Mold was given the opportunity to help. “We were able to assist GE and enhance their design by incorporating several parts into one” explained Phil Gaitan, Director of Sales and Marketing for ATM.  “The resulting ease of installation for the utilities field personnel further assists with the realization of savings on not only the parts, but the labor required to install them, We are continuing to develop additional designs improvements for other parts with this customer.”

“American Tool & Mold is glad to have another opportunity to take advantage of its treasure trove of innovative manufacturing processes and experienced staff” according to Emilia Loulourgas, ATM’s CEO.  ATM has helped countless customers improve their parts through advanced engineering and design. “This enables our customers to realize more cost effective and streamlined manufacturing processes.  Our one-on-one involvement with our customers ensures the best possible concept with your goals driving our direction” Loulourgas concluded.
